Claims and warranties

Claims from submission to report, with the 30-day deadline tracked

Customers submit a claim in the app, on the web or at the counter. You assess the bike and decide; Care.bike tracks the legal deadline and prepares the paperwork. You have the warranties for every bike on record from the sale.

The 30 days run from when you take the bike in. You see how many days are left and get reminders 15, 9 and 3 days before the end.

Customers submit a claim in the app or through a web form, with a description of the fault and photos. Nothing to retype from emails.

The claim form and the claim report are filled in from the claim details and you download them as PDFs.

You set the legal warranty and any others when you sell the bike. Customers see them in the app and can't submit a claim once the warranty has ended.

Customers and you can both submit a claim

  • Customer in the app: taps Claim on the bike, describes the fault, adds photos and chooses where to bring the bike

  • No account: claims through the public form on care.bike

  • At the counter: you create the claim for the customer in the portal

  • Eligibility: the sale is looked up from the bike. If the bike has no sales record in Care.bike, the customer adds the purchase date and a proof of purchase

When does the 30-day deadline start?

From the day you take the bike in. Until then the claim shows "Not running".

Will customers see how the claim is going?

Yes. In the app they see the claim on the bike and the deadline, and they get order status messages just like for a service.

What if the customer didn't buy the bike through Care.bike?

They add the purchase date and a proof of purchase. A bike with verified ownership doesn't need one.

We don't have our own workshop. Can we accept claims?

Yes. A Local Care partner workshop near your customer handles the claim.
